Domed Skylights for Commercial Buildings in Toronto

July 1, 2023 By Webmaster

Domed Skylights for Commercial Buildings in Toronto

Want your commercial building to stand out from the crowd? One way to accomplish such a feat is by getting a huge skylight installed. However, not just any skylight will do. Lots of buildings have skylights installed. So, what kind of skylight will really make the difference? Domed skylights. Here’s why.

Domed Skylights From the Outside

One of the most compelling things about domed skylights is the way they look from the outside. The big, glass dome sticks out above the top of any building and can be seen from a great distance. There’s nothing to garner intrigue in your building – whether it be an office, department store, or company headquarters – like a giant, glass dome.

Imagining a glass dome may give you an image of something smooth and globe-like. However, dome skylights aren’t smooth like this. It would be nearly impossible to make a dome that large out of one piece of glass. No – instead, domed skylights are made up of many smaller, triangular panels. We consider this a plus. It looks much more appealing to the eye than if it were one piece of glass. Plus, it’s easier to repair any damage to one piece. Imagine having to make a whole new skylight if one part of your giant, single-piece dome got cracked! We think the existing method is preferable.

The Interior View

Not only is the exterior view amazing, so is the view from inside the building. Looking up at a domed skylight is breathtaking. Trees that tower above the building seem even taller, the sky looks even bluer, and the clouds look even bigger. Not to mention, the way the light comes in illuminates the entire main portion of the building in a way electric lights couldn’t dream of doing. That makes your interior look better while also saving you a whole lot of money on electricity.

Commercial Skylight Installation and Repair Services

Commercial Skylight Installation and Repair Services

Skylights can be truly transformative centerpieces to otherwise simple spaces. This is true for many kinds of interiors. From family homes to sprawling office buildings, skylights can really make the difference. So, when you want to take a space to the next level, who do you call? The simple answer is: Aluplex. Aluplex has the commercial skylight installation professionals you need, all across Toronto.

Big or Small

Skylights come in all shapes and sizes. Some glass and construction companies only offer services for one or the other. Small-scale construction companies may be happy to help install a skylight over your kitchen, but aren’t qualified nor interested in taking on something larger. Some commercial names are happy to take on big projects but don’t have time for small, residential window installation.

Aluplex is here for you no matter what size skylight you want installed. If we sell it, we can put it in for you. Skylights are one of our specializations and we take that to heart. If you need help making your skylight needs a reality, you can count on us to make it happen.

Any Style You Want

Skylights aren’t a one size fits all kind of design feature. Sure, small rectangular skylights are pretty standard in housing, but that doesn’t mean they’re right for everyone. This is especially true when beginning to scale up. Larger buildings have a lot more ceiling room to accommodate things like dome or pyramid skylights. With more options to choose from, who wouldn’t want to get creative?

No matter what style you’re after, we know how to help. Different types of skylights will require different kinds of buildings, connections, anchoring, and more. Our commercial skylight installation professionals know how to expertly install any of our offered skylights.

Emergency Repair Services

No one is immune to incident, especially not skylight owners with trees around their home. Skylights aren’t impervious to damage. And, because of their position on the roof of a home or office, a damaged skylight can mean a damaged interior. After all, water has been known to do quite a number on flooring and furniture alike. If a skylight is what’s keeping the rain out, a damaged skylight is bad news all around.

Fortunately Aluplex’s commercial skylight installation professionals are also skylight repair specialists. If you have emergency repair needs, call us right away and we’ll be out to help you as soon as we can. Even if it’s still storming, we’ll be there for you. After all, it’s better to get your window back in working order while the rain is still coming down.

Broken Skylight Replacements

Whether you need emergency commercial skylight repair services or not, we’re also happy to help with broken skylight replacements. As we said, a broken skylight can cause all kinds of problems. Therefore, if a broken skylight is plaguing your home, we can replace it with one that will do its job. Just give us a call when you’re ready to get your skylight replacement and we’ll make it happen.

High Quality, Double, Swinging Glass Doors

High Quality, Double, Swinging Glass Doors

Are you looking for the perfect swinging glass doors? Aluplex is exactly the place to find them. Let us talk about some of the best uses for swinging glass doors and why we’re the best place to purchase them.

Front Shop Doors

Swinging glass doors are the perfect entry for a shop. The glass allows prospective visitors to take a peek inside without committing to entering. Who knows? Maybe they’ll spot something interesting and head inside!

While automated sliding doors with sensors are great for big-time grocery stores, swinging glass doors are great for smaller businesses. They’re less expensive to buy outright, less difficult to upkeep, and change the atmosphere. When someone approaches a store and the door slides open automatically for them, it does give the kind of atmosphere of a chain store.

Swinging glass doors offer a more local, small-town feeling to a store, which is actually a good thing most of the time. When people approach a new store, they determine where it falls on a scale of class in relation to themselves. Most average people don’t ever imagine themselves owning a big chain store with automated sliding doors. However, it’s not hard to picture, if successful, a store like your own, with doors they have to open manually. They feel like they can relate to you, the owner, on some level. That sense of knowing is a positive feeling that will leave people feeling connected to your store.

Public Building Entries

While connecting with the public is important for shop owners, it’s even more important for those running public buildings. Libraries, post offices, city hall – they almost all have swinging glass doors at their front. Not only is seeing inside an establishment a great way to soothe anxiety, for the visitor, it offers security for the building. Whoever is coming in from outside, you can see them ahead of time. There^s little to catch you off-guard. If you’re in a business or position where security matters to you, glass doors provide a bit of that.

High Quality Glass

The most important thing, when buying windows or doors, is choosing a company that offers high quality glass. We offer that at Aluplex. Glass quality affects a lot about your experience. Low quality glass can leak insulatory gas, have worse clarity, and break easier. If you want your swinging glass doors to last and look great, you should rely on us to provide you with great glass.

High Quality Glass Doors in Toronto

If you’re looking for high quality glass in your doors, Aluplex is the best option for you. We’ve been selling and installing windows to the GTA for 45 years. Therefore, you can rely on us to provide you with high quality swinging glass doors that will withstand daily use with ease.

Replace Commercial Shop Doors and Windows

Replace Commercial Shop Doors and Windows

A shop or store is only as good as people’s impression of it. After all, a few negative reviews can tank a star rating and prevent new people from even giving you a chance. The same can be said for your shop’s appearance. Without ever looking at another person’s written experience, people will form an impression of your store based on how it looks. If it doesn’t look so hot, they’re going to assume it isn’t so hot. What does all of this mean? It might mean you need to replace your commercial shop doors and windows. Let’s take a look.

Glass Reveals All

One of the worst things about glass is that, if not cared for impeccably, it will reveal everything that’s ever happened to it. Something sticky got on it? That residue might have gotten left in the very edges of the window frame. That, in turn, collected grime and dust and dirt. Taped up sales flyers years back? The sticky tape residue is pretty hard to clean off sometimes – especially if there’s a lot of it. That, in turn, collects grime and dust and dirt. And so on and so forth, forever.

What we’re saying it, it’s understandable if your windows don’t look fresh out of the factory. After all, you’ve put hard years of work into your store. Heck, you might not have even been it’s first, second, or tenth owner. The problem is, it doesn’t matter what made the windows the way they are. If there are many places of trace history on them, it’s going to age the entire exterior appearance of the store. The same goes for glass doors.

Window Insulation Runs Out

The next problem with old commercial shop windows is that window insulation does run out. Most people aren’t aware of it, but windows are filled with a transparent insulating gas. Those double-panes are double for a reason. It’s that, between them, they hold a gas that’s heavier than air and ensures your windows are insulated while still remaining transparent.

Unfortunately, after many years, a window’s seal gets weaker and that insulatory gas begins to leak out. What happens then? Well, your shop’s insulation becomes very poor indeed. Keeping it cool in the summer and warm in the winter is going to rack up your electrical bill. In the end, it may just be cheaper to replace those windows. It saves you money and gives the shop a facelift.

Glass Gets Damaged

If all else is tolerable, there’s also the fact that glass gets damaged. If you’ve got a crack in your glass door or window, it takes down the appearance of the shop significantly. You may have even gotten that crack repaired to maintain what insulation may be left in it. However, whether the crack is repaired or not will not make a difference to a potential customer. Cracked glass, naturally, will make prospective visitors feel like the shop is run-down or possibly unsafe. If your window or door gets cracked, it’s best to get it replaced.

Affordable Awning Windows for Your Office

Affordable Awning Windows for Your Office

If you’re building a new office building or looking to improve the one you already have, you should probably consider windows. There are a lot of reasons to consider replacing the ones you have. If you’re working on a new building, there are also a lot of reasons to consider which kind you plan on installing. Let us tell you a bit about awning windows and why they’re a good choice for your office.

Replacing Old Windows

Did you know windows have a shelf life, so to speak? Modern windows are made with two panes of glass. The inside is then filled with a heavy, transparent gas. Because the gas it’s filled with is heavier than air, it does a better job of insulating, without obstructing your view.

Unfortunately, because your windows’ insulation relies on this gas, years of wear means loss of insulation. As your window panes begin to lose their perfect seal, the gas slowly but surely begins escaping. In 8-15 years you can completely lose your window insulation.

A lack of window insulation can mean a lot of things. For example, your office may get very cold in winter or very hot in summer. The sun will have more impact when hitting your windows directly. Your electricity bill will be higher from trying to compensate for the lack of insulation. The only way to fix this problem is to replace your windows with new ones.

What Are Awning Windows?

When it comes to window styles, the most common ones in North America are horizontal sliding windows, single-hung windows, and casement windows. These ones, you’re surely familiar with. However, one window style which is actually much more suited for office spaces is the awning window.

Awning windows are windows which can be opened, typically by turning a crank on the inside of the window. The moving segment of window will then tilt outward from a hinge at the top, creating an “awning.”

Awning Windows for Your Office

Awning windows are great for office buildings for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons is their hardiness. Single-hung and horizontal sliding windows are too easy to, theoretically, disassemble. This is a feature when it comes to windows in a private home. The ability to simply lift the sliding part of a horizontal window in order to remove it means easier cleaning and repair. However, for a high rise, this poses a theoretical hazard due to being unsecured.

Additionally, single-hung and sliding windows provide no protection from rain. If it’s raining and there’s a good amount of wind, rain water can be blown right into the building. For an office space with a large number of people who can access and use windows, this is a risk. It’s easy for someone to forget to close a window before going home for the night. Awning windows ensure rain doesn’t reach the opening. Instead, it hits the “awning” and runs right off.

Interior Glass Walls for Offices, Businesses, and Galleries

Interior Glass Walls for Offices, Businesses, and Galleries

If you’ve recently built or bought an office or other building with an open floor plan, you may need to do some revision. Namely, a large space functions best with a few separate spaces within. An owner or manager needs their own space to manage files, meet with clients, and more. Somewhere with displays may need some division between sections. So, how does one break up one giant space into many smaller spaces? Interior glass walls for offices and other businesses are easily come by with a frameless system from Aluplex.

What Is a Frameless System?

If you’ve never heard of a frameless system before, we’re happy to let you in on the secret! Frameless systems are a series of glass walls for offices or other spaces that need division. Frameless systems can be used to create personal office spaces, meeting rooms, waiting rooms, and more. These interior glass walls are excellent for many different kinds of spaces. Let’s see some of their perks!

Why Choose Glass Walls for Offices?

If you have the money to potentially put in some good, solid walls to divide your new building, you may be wondering what benefits come with a frameless system. Why not just put in regular walls? Aren’t those a better investment, long term? The answer may surprise you, but regular walls often come with a litany of drawbacks. These can be avoided with frameless systems.

Lighting

First, we have to consider lighting. Most open concept office spaces, stores, or galleries share a wall with another business. That means there may only be windows on one or two sides of the space. Electric lights can do a lot, but they simply can’t compete with natural light. Separating a room with solid walls will block all of that beautiful sunlight and make for a much more depressing interior.

A frameless system, being made of glass, is immune to this problem. You can still maintain privacy by opting for opaque glass, but it will still allow light to travel. For offices, this means a more optimistic level of light in an otherwise unlit private office. In a gallery space this can mean not needing overhead lights at all for most of the space.

Cohesion and Community

The second big reason to go for interior glass walls instead of solid ones is the cohesion of the space. Plus, don’t forget the sense of community. If you’re in an office space with 20 other people, a frameless system provides you with your own, private workspace. However, being able to see people walking past in the hallway prevents the feeling of isolation that regular walls can offer.

Quality Frameless Systems in Toronto

If you want to break up one giant room into more functional spaces, get a frameless system from Aluplex. Not only do we sell them, we also install them. Let us know if you have questions about our frameless systems, or come visit our store and see them in person. We look forward to hearing from you!
